Leadership Symosium  Click here for brochure.

The Leadership Symposium is designed for managers who are already experienced and proficient with the essential skills of management. The objectives of the program are a heightened awareness of reputation, effectiveness, and impact. The format is 3 full days, usually offsite. The elements may be customized by the client and typically include:

  • 360 degree feedback
  • overview of 360 degree research, the questionnaire that has been used, how to interpret the results, and how to choose areas of focus to improve professional success
  • team activity designed to increase awareness of collaboration
  • case study, video taped, and review of excerpts to identify examples which may demonstrate development areas highlighted in the 360 feedback
  • skill building modules such as Inquiry and Advocacy, Ladder of Inference, Conflict Management, Influence, and team dynamics development

The program is designed for participants to create an on-going study group of one or more sessions, continue to learn from peers, and have an opportunity to access fellow participants to reinforce new more powerful approaches to their own leadership style learned at the symposium.

Executive & Management Coaching Summary

From Executive level to middle managers, coaching is provided on a customized basis for:

  • high potential employees being developed for a promotion
  • recently promoted managers in a stretch assignment
  • highly expert managers new to the organization
  • executives developing a new team of direct reports

Typically a coaching assignment is six months in duration, with meetings every other week for about an hour and a half, with concrete goals and outcomes specified in advance. The coaching may include use of Myers-Briggs, Thomas-Kilman conflict model, and 360 feedback from key colleagues in the organization.

Organizational Development Overview

Organizational Development consulting supports companies and departments to create more effective results. This generally starts with an Organizational Development audit, which consists of observing the management team in action, reviewing the organization structure, and interviewing the management team to see what are high functioning activities and what are obsolete, redundant or inefficient. Those interviews include the manager’s assessment of talent in their groups. These findings are compared to the organization’s core strength, strategic direction, existing talent, and long and short term goals.

If there are gaps between the current state and desired state, some of the methods we use to address that are:
  • Strategic planning offsite
  • Executive retreat
  • Board retreat
  • 360 degree feedback
  • Group effectiveness skill development
  • Employee surveys
  • Values & Culture process
  • Alignment between goals and rewards
  • Accountability, authority and appreciation
  • Root cause processes
  • More communication

"Janet Britcher has a gentle assertiveness, a calm yet persistent presence, which she brought to our team. That enabled us to exchange substantive content about what was important. Through the process we changed how we are with each other, and that positive change has remained ever since."

Robert Sarly, Sr. Vice President
Global Financial Services Firm

"The first time I saw Janet Britcher present, I was very impressed with the way she could connect with every single member in the audience who asked a question. I work in a large engineering company, in a large division which includes 900 engineers. Janet has a lot of experience in the world of technology, and management, and getting results, so I brought her in on a consulting assignment. Working with our engineering Directors I saw Janet at her best. She was able to focus us, and keep us on a schedule. These are busy very smart people, and she was able to keep us to our goal. The directors very much appreciated how much we accomplished."

Engineering Director, General Dynamics C4 Systems
